Staff Nurse - Paediatrics

Job Description

We are looking for band 5 staff nurses for the Paediatric Unit who have high standards, a commitment to patient safety and will be an advocate for positive patient experiences.

Applicants should have excellent communication skills, be proven to work well as part of a team, the ability to build strong therapeutic relationships and be willing to develop their own skills.

The Paediatric Unit includes a dedicated HDU and Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU). The unit provides a variety of specialities for children and young people including plastics, neurology, general medicine, general surgery, orthopaedics, shared care oncology and ENT. Within the Child Heath Directorate there is an expanding ambulatory service, linking into the paediatric outreach team, as well as paediatric outpatients and surgical day case. The paediatric unit also has close links with the emergency department and there will be an opportunity to rotate to the emergency department, this opportunity will help development assessment skills as well as enhancing the relationship between the 2 departments.

The Directorate has a dedicated education and governance team who will offer full support .The successful candidate will receive a comprehensive induction/preceptorship package and in-house training that is practical and theory based. Ongoing training and development will be supported.
