Basildon Paediatric Unit has undergone a significant amount of change over the last 18 months and, under new senior leadership and management, achieved a ‘Good’ CQC outcome from its inspection in March 2014.

We now want to achieve ‘Outstanding’ and can only do this with your help and input.

Our Paediatric Unit has a 24 bed ward caring for children and young people aged 0-16 years with both medical and surgical conditions including Cystic Fibrosis, Oncology and Diabetes; a Level 2 Neonatal Unit; a dedicated children’s outpatient department and a Children’s Accident & Emergency Department open 24 hours 7 days a week seeing approximately 60-80 patients per day.

We truly believe in empowered, dynamic nurses that can help us to deliver excellent care and provide the best experience for our patients. We put children, young people and their families at the heart of all we do and support our nursing and support staff with bespoke training and development opportunities to help them achieve this goal.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and dynamic children’s nurse to come and join our Paediatric unit.

We are continually looking to develop our service this includes developing a number of extended nurse competencies and roles within the service, as well as working with commissioners and community colleagues regarding patient pathways using a true multi-disciplinary approach.

To be considered for the role, you will need to:

Be a registered children’s nurse (RSCN / RN Child) on part 8 or 15 of the NMC register
Have excellent communication skills and the ability to form good relationships across the multi-disciplinary team and within challenging situations
Have the ability to challenge yourself, a flexible attitude that gets results and be open to innovative attitudes and solutions
