Job Description

An opportunity has arisen to become part of a well established community nursing team. The Helena Specialist Nursing Team is a multi-disciplinary community nursing team caring for children with complex life limiting neurological conditions and those with a continuing health care need.

The team provides 24 hour nursing care / respite care, 7 days a week, 365 days per year. We work collaboratively to ensure that care packages are provided as quickly and effectively as possible; thus enabling children and young people with complex care needs to be cared for at home or at school. Each member of the team is responsible for their own caseload of patients and the Band 6 Nurse will be expected to cover on-call for bank holidays, weekends and nights on a rota basis.

The Team also provides palliative care service (when required) for children who are already receiving care from the team.

The Team members work closely with the multi-disciplinary team based at The Ryegate Children’s Centre and Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

We are looking for a motivated individual who has the ability to work independently and in partnership with families, carers and a range of Multidisciplinary Teams. We need someone who is empathic and can relate to the difficulties of working in a community environment.

You will have significant experience of working within a paediatric setting preferably with experience of caring for children with neurological conditions .

It is essential that you have use of a car and hold a valid Driving Licence.

In line with other NHS Organisations in the Yorkshire and Humber Region a successful candidate appointed into a post within this Trust will be required to pay the DBS check fee (£49). This is customarily payable over 4 months as a salary deduction once employed by the Trust. If you receive a conditional offer letter, complete your DBS application and later withdraw from the recruitment process, an invoice will be raised via the Trust's finance department to recoup the outlay.
