Staff Nurse, Band 5
FULL & PART TIME HOURS AVALIBLE
At Somerset Partnership NHS Trust we make it happen. Whether it’s providing leading edge services to our community or outstanding training and development to our staff, our vision is to always maximise potential. Our team and the Trust are built on ambition and as we continue to grow we’re looking for nurses to join our team and be a part of something big. And that’s why we want you.
We have 13 community hospitals that provide inpatient care, many of which are recently built. Three of these hospitals specialise in stroke care and treat patients at a very early stage in the stroke pathways. The other 10 hospitals provide a mixture of rehabilitation care, assessment beds and ambulatory care.
Intuitive, compassionate, and open-minded, you will be a Registered General Nurse with the clinical experience and expertise to practise autonomously. A patient- and family-focused approach to nursing will be essential. Above all, you’ll be ambitious – for yourself, for your patients, and for our dynamic Trust.
Meadow Ward is a 20 bed ward providing stroke rehabilitation, general medical and palliative care in a community setting with plans to develop our existing ambulatory care service.
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated Staff Nurse with outstanding communication skills and the ability to work innovatively. Essentially a team player you will be committed to providing holistic care with a passion to improve the patient experience. The role involves supporting the Senior Sister in the daily running of the ward together with supervision of the HealthCare Assistant staff.
Responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care will utilise a wide range of clinical skills. You will be required to work on an internal rotation to include days and nights over 7 days.
Informal visits are welcome.
If you’ve got the passion, we want to hear from you.

At Somerset Partnership, we offer some excellent benefits over and above the standard NHS benefits. Here are just some of them:
Refer a Friend scheme. We recognise that our staff are our most valuable resource. We are therefore keen for people with similar skills, experiences and approach to you to join our team. If you are already employed by us and have a friend or family member who you think would fit in with our culture and values, this scheme enables you to introduce them to the Trust.
If the introduction is successful and leads to your friend being appointed to a role within the Trust, you will both be entitled to an initial payment of £175 after your friend has been in post for three calendar months and a further payment of £175 each after they have been in post for a period of 12 calendar months.
Registration: The Trust welcomes newly qualified staff joining the team and will pay their registration for the first year that they are with the Trust.
Relocation assistance: The Trust already has in place a generous relocation scheme, subject to eligible applicants meeting the terms of the scheme. The full terms of the scheme can be found in the ‘Removal and Relocation Expenses Policy’ under ‘Human Resources’ on the public website.
Other benefits at Somerset Partnership include:
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. For further information please visit the UK Visas and Immigration website.
Applicants must have current UK professional registration. For further information please see applying from overseas.
