Job Description

Staff Nurse – Band 5 Emergency Department

Full and part-time hours are available

We currently have opportunities for enthusiastic and experienced staff nurses to join our nursing team.

You will need to have a minimum of 1 years post registration experience and be able to evidence your own professional development.

Staff are supported by a Clinical Practice Facilitator and a Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse in a development and appraisal group. We have a very proactive education program, within the Emergency Department to include enhanced clinical skills such as suturing. Staff are supported and encouraged to develop the skills and knowledge required to look after our diverse patient group through engagement with a range of nursing interest groups.

The Emergency Department covers a catchment area of approximately 500,000 people and last year had approximately 72,000 attendances. We are continuously striving to provide high quality patient care and believe in the fact that all patients should receive the right care by the right person with the right skills the first time. This is evidenced by our patient feedback. We have a strong commitment to developing our staff with our daily teaching programme and senior nurse mentorship.

It is a Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirement that all Registered Nurses and Midwives are “Revalidated” from 1st April 2016.

At the RUH all Registered Nurses and Midwives will be supported to prepare and successfully complete the educational and practice aspects of NMC Revalidation and this includes an ePortfolio to record the evidence to meet the NMC Revalidation requirements
