We have a number of exciting opportunities within our Care of the Elderly wards and our Dementia unit for registered staff nurses to join our team, treating patients in various stages of their care.

We are looking for committed and dynamic aspiring nurses with excellent communication skills and above all a real desire and passion to work with older people. We are looking for someone who is passionate about elderly and dementia care nursing within an acute environment, about delivering high standards and ensuring that our patients have a good experience whilst under our care.

We are looking for caring, compassionate nurses, preferably with experience, who can demonstrate implementation of the 6Cs, committed to delivering high standards of dignified patient care, which are highly motivated and have excellent communication skills. Successful applicants will be part of a nursing team, led by a Supervisory Senior Sister, working flexibly to provide 24/7 care on a 28 bedded ward.

The trust is committed to personal and professional development; successful applicants will receive support and training to deliver the care requirements of the specialty to achieve their full potential and become integral members of the multidisciplinary team.

Acute Stroke Unit

Acute Stroke Unit service is a 23 bedded mixed sex ward service, paying attention to the Government priority in Health Care in eliminating mixed sex accommodation, utilising single sexed bays. 2 beds of which are hyper-acute and a further bed is solely used for admissions/treatment producing one to one care of thrombolysis patients.

The support service is at 40% and qualified percentage is 60%.

Our seven day provision, ward based Consultants, equates to 2 in numbers, all practising in their specialist Acute Stroke Role. Both exceptional Consultants, one being the Black Country Network Lead for Stroke.

The unit has two dedicated stroke research nurses who are actively involved in recruiting patients to participate in National Research Trials. 7 days Transient Ischaemic Attack (TIA) clinics for high risk patients, successfully meeting national guidelines. There is an assigned Specialist Stroke Nurse to the unit. Actively involved in initiating the AMBER care pathway. Recognised publicly for Stroke service provision has been proven by mailings to local newspapers.
