Hywel Dda University Health Board has an exciting opportunity for motivated, enthusiastic and ambitious Children’s Nurses to join our Acute Paediatric Nursing Service. We are looking for a band 5 staff nurse to join the team at Withybush Hospital. Located in Haverfordwest, in the heart of the Pembrokeshire coast national park, the 12 bedded Paediatric Ambulatory Care unit (PACU) has been set up to provide rapid assessment and treatment of children and young people from 0-18yrs in a dedicated paediatric area.
We are committed to the provision of high quality evidence based practice to meet the needs of children, young people and parents while ensuring we provide family centred care as close to home as possible. The work is varied and offers opportunities to develop a broad range of specialised skills working within multi-disciplinary and multi-agency partnerships. We provide an excellent service to meet the needs of children and families which incorporates both the rapid assessment and stabilisation of all general paediatric emergency admissions ( 8 beds ) plus medical and surgical /orthopaedic day cases (4 beds). We work closely with the A&E department and also run speciality clinic’s (Diabetes, Cardiology, Rheumatology, ultrasound and Allergy etc) for visiting consultants and other Allied Health Professionals.
We offer good opportunities to accumulate paediatric nursing skills within a friendly, supportive and encouraging team. A caring attitude is essential with good written and oral skills. You must be able to manage your time effectively. Hywel Dda has a paediatric preceptorship programme for NQN’s and supports all staff in their life long learning.
Applicants need to be RSCN/Child Branch trained with relevant NMC registration.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role
