Job Description

Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust provides mental health, social care, public health and wellbeing services for the people of Manchester. The SAFIRE Unit offers intensive inpatient crisis resolution and assessment as part of the urgent care psychiatric services within Manchester Mental Health and Social Care Trust.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a nurse to join our unique service. The service is based at Park House, situated in the grounds of North Manchester General Hospital.

We welcome applications from candidates who can demonstrate their contribution to the clinical team providing innovative service delivery and the delivery of care to patients of this assessment unit.

The candidate will be responsible for providing patient focused care, communicating with three busy Accident and Emergency departments and city wide community mental teams and crisis resolution teams.

The role of the nurse is to develop care packages following assessment of needs, assist as part of the multi-disciplinary team in the discharge of clients and to assist in the Trusts co-ordinated response to psychiatric emergencies.

Interventions may include liaising with GPs and other professionals and referring to other agencies including statutory and none statutory. We also provide advice on management and signposting to other health care and none healthcare professionals. This post is suitable for a newly qualified mental health nurse.

All positions within the Trust are subject to satisfactory pre-employment checks. This position is also subject to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check. If you have not registered with the DBS Update Service, a new disclosure would be undertaken if you were successful in your application. During this time, services will continue and opportunities will be created by being part of a larger organisation.
