Staff Nurse

Job Description

We are a pioneering research active organisation and we are proud to be doing things differently; whether that be redefining the shape of the local health and care system through our innovative plans for integrated care, or developing new services such as our Frail Older Person’s Assessment Service and our Medically Fit for Discharge Ward.

As well as creating the future, we also know the importance of providing really good, safe, and caring services for our patients. Our iCARE ethos sets out the principles which every member of our staff works to, ensuring good communication, attitude, respect and care for the hospital environment. Our patients tell us we’re getting this right, with our Friends and Family Test results consistently above 95 per cent (patients ‘extremely likely’ or ‘likely’ to recommend us to their friends and family).

We are always looking for enthusiastic and capable nurses to join our busy friendly Trust here at Yeovil.

We seek to recruit Registered Nurses with exceptional professional skills, who have a passion for high quality patient care and a keen focus on positive patient experience.

In these roles you will be assessing, planning, delivering and implementing a high standard of nursing care whilst responding to individual patient needs. For success in your application, you will be able to demonstrate good clinical practice. You will be accountable for your own actions, promoting a good working ethos, and maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff at all times. In return we will develop you to reach your full potential supporting you to progress your career.

As a Yeovil Hospital nurse you'll be joining a highly-respected team. Our Trust offers exceptional leadership, great peer support and exciting opportunities for career progression. As part of our team, we’ll encourage you to make the very most of your skills, changing lives for the better and helping our hospital carry the standard of first-class patient care into the future.

For success in your application, you will be able to demonstrate good clinical practice. You will be accountable for your own actions, promoting a good working ethos, and maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff at all times.

It is essential that you are a team player, supporting and motivating junior members of staff as well as deputising for senior nurses and sisters when required.

Nationally, our standards of excellence and passion for innovation are recognised on a regular basis. In 2014, ITV’s People’s Millions awarded us £50,000 to fund a sensory dementia-friendly garden. We also won the Nursing Times award for patient safety, and this year have made the final two in the Nursing Standard award for enhancing patient experience.

Early in 2015, we received ministerial approval to fund our pioneering Electronic Health Record project which will revolutionise the way that patient care is delivered and will be in active use in the Trust by the end of the year.

A bid led by Yeovil Hospital, with Somerset Clinical Commissioning Group, the South Somerset GP Federation, and Somerset County Council, to become one of the Government’s Vanguard sites, has been successful. This makes us the only Vanguard site in the South West, chosen from a national field of 269.

Being chosen as a Vanguard site means we are among just 29 projects in the country which are leading the way in the development of a more effective, more collaborative, and more patient-centred NHS, as described in the NHS Five Year Forward View published last year.

Above all, as a nurse at Yeovil Hospital, you'll really be encouraged to care. We place as much importance on the patient experience as we do on the outcome, so you'll find ours is a hospital where your compassion and creativity is valued as much as your clinical skill.

Informal visits always welcome, please contact us to arrange.
