We are looking for registered nurses with a genuine desire to look after our patients in Care of the Elderly and General Medicine.
We are reviewing all applications on a fortnightly basis as this advert is part of an on-going recruitment campaign - hence the long closing date.
If you come and join our service you will have the exposure to acute medicine, specialist dementia care, complex discharge planning and multidisciplinary working. We work closely with other specialties/disciplines and with GPs, and interact with a wide range of outpatient clinics and support facilities within our partner organisations.
It is an exciting time to join the nursing teams at Colchester Hospital as we begin to promote and further develop our services. Some of the initiatives we are keen to develop are our Elderly Frail Unit, Safer Care Bundle and Safer 3-4-3 discharge process.
We have quarterly training days for all staff in the Medicine Division, concentrating on specific training for this patient group, development of our link nurse roles, and a strong emphasis will be placed on your learning and development with opportunities for internal rotation. We offer local and trust induction programmes, a preceptorship programme for new starters and offers of higher education courses identified through your regular Performance Development Reviews and Appraisal.

For external applicants this post attracts an additional payment of £1,000, to be paid in 2 instalments:
• £500 to be paid on completion of probation
• £500 on completion of 12 months employment
If you are newly qualified, you are also eligible for a Training Bursary of a further £500, to supplement additional work related learning.
This post is eligible for a £500 contribution towards the cost of housing to assist with the need to move home to start work at Colchester Hospital.
