VICTORIA HOSPITAL, KIRKCALDY MEDICINE OF THE ELDERLY WARD 12 STAFF NURSES REF NO: HH781/10/16JE SALARY: £21,818 - £28,462 PRO RATA BAND 5 – HOURS: VARIOUS We are currently recruiting Nurses to Medicine of the Elderly wards in Victoria Hospital. We are looking for nurses who wish to develop skills in Medicine of the Elderly as well as nurses who are experienced in this specialty. With the increasing number of frail older people in the population, there is a real focus on how Health and Social Care partners support older people. The experience available to you in Medicine of the Elderly will enable you to develop a range of skills which will be transferrable to many care settings and other inpatient specialties. Medicine of the Elderly nursing is a developing specialty which offers the opportunity to nurse patients with complex conditions on very busy, friendly wards which can be challenging but highly rewarding. The multidisciplinary teams in Medicine of the Elderly wards are involved in innovative work around the management of frailty and are also involved in projects through the NHS Fife Older Peoples Collaborative to improve the quality of care for Older people. We are looking for innovative individuals to join our team in delivering high quality care to patients. You will be required to work both autonomously and part of a team in caring for the acutely unwell patient including the ability to work empathically with clients and their families. You will also be expected to establish and maintain a high standard of nursing practice, ensuring that quality of care provided is continually informed by best evidence-based practice. In return we can offer you the opportunity to develop your nursing skills and undertake further study and training if desire Experience in M&H, venepuncture and cannulation are desirable, but training can be provided. Good communication skills are essential. Hours will be worked to suit the needs of the service; this will include rotation to night duty.
