Geographic areas our services cover
ELFT provides a wide range of community and inpatient services to children, young people, adults of working age, older adults and forensic services to the City of London, Hackney, Newham, Tower Hamlets, Bedfordshire and Luton. We provide psychological therapy services to the London Borough of Richmond, as well as Children and Young People's Speech and Language Therapy in Barnet.
In addition, the Trust provides forensic services to the London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Redbridge and Waltham Forest, and some specialist mental health services to North London, Hertfordshire and Essex.
The specialist Forensic Personality Disorder service serves North London and the specialist Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME adult outpatient service serves North London and the South of England.
The Trust's specialist Mother and Baby Psychiatric Unit receives referrals from London and the South East of England.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic band 6 Occupational Therapist to join Newhams Extended Primary Care Services.
The Extended Primary Care Services provide intervention and rehabilitation to adults with physical disabilities, in a range of community settings. Nursing and therapy staff work in multidisciplinary teams across two localities within Newham, liaising closely with local GPs. Within each of the two localities is a Virtual Ward service.
This is for adults requiring a more intensive level of case management for short periods, to aid them to remain in their homes, thus reducing unplanned hospital admissions.
The post holder will:
Manage a caseload of patients with complex physical disabilities, providing comprehensive occupational therapy assessment and intervention, evidencing problem-solving and clinical reasoning skills in line with evidence-based and client-centred principles.
Provide specialist occupational therapy clinical advice to staff within the Extended Primary Care Services.
Contribute to the day-to-day management and provision of occupational therapy within the locality, including caseload allocation and referral prioritisation.
Supervise and appraise junior staff on a day-to-day basis.
Participate in the development and evaluation of the service, leading on specific projects.
You must have post-registration experience, including time working in rehabilitation with clients with a range of physical disabilities. Effective time management and caseload management skills are essential, as are excellent communication skills and a commitment to the principles and practice of effective team working. You would be joining a friendly and forward-thinking multi-disciplinary service which is committed to high standards of practice. We will support you in developing your clinical and supervisory skills, and progress to developing management skills.
We will also offer you the opportunity to participate in clinical governance activities and other policy and service developments. We are committed to developing staff through regular supervision, appraisals, support in CPD and opportunities for career progression.
