At Mencap we work in partnership with people with a learning disability. We do this by providing high-quality, flexible services that support people, including young adults, to live as independently as possible in their own homes and in the community.

Role Description
We have opportunities for full or part-time and Relief Support Workers to join our team in Witham as Support Workers.

You will be actively promoting and encouraging the people we support to make their own choices in everything they do. As a Support Worker you will also be involved in great things like: planning holidays, attending clubs, shopping trips, eating out and much more. As part of your role, duties will include but not limited to providing support with preparing meals, cleaning, personal care and medication. Joining a team of dedicated Support Workers, you will be working in our Supported living and Registered Care Home which are all within the same land.

2 of the people we support go out to work so we support them to and from work. The people we support enjoy singing in a choir which takes place every week in our new cabin onsite. We also have a music and arts and crafts instructor come fortnightly to do some singing, arts and crafts at the service and the people we support also enjoy going out to drama and arts clubs. As a team we enjoy fun days with the people we support and take pride in the work we do and the relationships we have as a team and with the people we support. Working in our service doesn't feel like a job, we are a team and thrive from seeing the people we support live fun filled, exciting and fulfilled lives and achieve the things that are important to them.

Working times will be on a rota basis with shifts spread across the weekdays, weekends and bank holidays including mornings, afternoons, evenings and sleep ins. Flexibility is therefore important for us to meet the needs of the people we support.
