Job Description

We have opportunities for Support Workers to join our service which opened a few months ago in Ilford where we support adults with a learning disability. We have permanent contracts for 4 x 37.5 hours, 2 x 30 hours per week ( weekends only) and Relief contracts available. We therefore will welcome applications from those looking for full or part-time and flexible work.

This service is currently home to 4 adults all under the age of 40 (2 females and 2 males) who all require varying levels of support. The 2 males live upstairs and have a mild to moderate learning disability. Both ladies are quadriplegics ( have partial/total loss of all four limbs) and have profound physical health needs alongside a severe learning disability. The ladies we support both use wheelchairs and so the suitable candidate will need to be comfortable and able to provide support when going out into the community.

For the permanent and Relief contracts, working times will be on a rota basis with shifts spread across the weekdays, weekends and bank holidays. Part-time contract shifts will be on weekends only. All shifts will include mornings, afternoons, evenings and sleep ins.

Working as a Support Worker isn't like any other job. It's incredibly rewarding but can also be challenging. As a Support Worker you need to believe in the value of every individual and respect them. Working as part of a team, the suitable candidate will provide support with daily living skills like cooking, cleaning, managing finances, attending health appointments, personal care or going out into the community. In return for your hard work and support we will provide you with award winning training and give you a really meaningful and purposeful job throughout your career with us.

Experience working with people with high physical health needs is desirable. We will also provide you with specific training you need to be able to support the people we support in this service

* An enhanced DBS will be required for each successful candidate ( Paid for by Mencap, T&Cs apply)
