Support Worker

Job Description

Please note we have Full Time, Part Time and Bank vacancies available at the rate of £720 per hour.

At Turning Point, we support people across the UK with learning disabilities. As a Support Worker, you’ll make a real difference as you support and advise our service users to help achieve their potential. Passionate about people, you’ll enjoy the scope and support to enhance your own life too, as you progress your career with a friendly, multi-disciplinary and 24/7 team.

In this hands-on job, you’ll support individuals with personal care, taking medication and a wide range of daily activities, including cleaning and cooking, on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis. You’ll also arrange activities both in the home and local community, set up appointments and support people to make decisions on their day-to-day lives – both big and small. Our Support Workers are committed to ensuring that people with learning disabilities lead varied, rewarding lives – and are vital to making that happen. So, your role could involve anything from accompanying people shopping and on holiday, to organising days out.

As a Support Worker, you’ll be passionate about changing the lives of people with learning disabilities – and have the good working knowledge of related issues to do so. Having relevant experience, either voluntary or paid, is essential for this role along with being flexible, patient and able to see situations from a service user’s perspective. The role of a Support Worker can be challenging, so you’ll also need to be non-judgemental, sensitive and confident of being able to support people during these difficult times. On a practical level, we look for the good IT, numerical, literacy and communication skills needed to produce reports and support plans – combined with the fitness needed for the more physical aspects of the role, like manual handling.

Running 24/7 services on a not-for-profit basis, we invest every penny back into our care – and our people. So if you’re enthusiastic and motivated to enable people with learning disabilities to live fulfilling lives, enhance your own future with Turning Point too.

All services operate on a 24-hour basis and our shift patterns includes early, late and weekend working, as well as periodical night working and sleep-ins.

We reserve the right to close this advert early if we are able to appoint to the vacancy before the advertised closed date.
