Senior Clinical Fellow in Trauma & Orthopaedics, (ST3 +) , with training in a sub-specialty based at Morriston Hospital, Swansea, South Wales

We are pleased to be able to offer a Senior Clinical Fellow post in Trauma & Orthopaedics at Middle Grade level which will provide training and experience in the department and an orthopaedic sub-specialty of choice at a major regional teaching centre.

The post will be based in Morriston Hospital, Swansea to start as soon as possible until next August, with the opportunity to an extended contract. The senior clinical fellow will take part in the trauma registrar on-call rota and have similar responsibilities for the care of inpatients. Each senior clinical fellow will be able to gain experience in the orthopaedic sub-specialties.
Within the Department there are 8 higher surgical trainees, 8 Core Training grades, 4 Trust Senior Clinical Fellow and 4 Trust Junior Clinical Fellow posts who share the on-call rota at Morriston Hospital.
The post of Senior Clinical Fellow would be suitable for gaining further experience in trauma and orthopaedics before applying for a training number
• The duties will be undertaken at Morriston Hospital unless the Consultant for whom the post-holder works undertakes sessions at other hospitals e.g. Singleton, Gorseinon or Neath Port Talbot Hospitals.
• The availability to discuss patients with their relatives, the careful explaining to patients as to the nature of the surgery that they are about to have before the consent form is signed and countersigned.
• Attendance, assistance and supervised operating in theatres as appropriate according to the post-holders previous experience.
• Attendance and assistance at Outpatient and Fracture Clinics at Morriston Hospital.
• Other duties that from time to time are recommended by the Consultant.
• The post holder will be part of a 1:12 resident on-call commitment.
