King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust part of King's Health Partners Academic Health Sciences Centre (AHSC), is one of the UK’s largest and busiest teaching hospitals with a turnover of nearly £1 billion, 15 million patient contacts a year and more than 11,500 staff based across 5 main sites in South East London.

The Trust provides a full range of local hospital services across its different sites, and specialist services from King’s College Hospital (KCH) site in Camberwell and the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site in Bromley.

Team Leader Critical Care

Full time 375 hours/week (1 x permanent posts)

The Critical Care Unit at the Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) site in Bromley is seeking a self-motivated, dynamic and assertive Critical Care nurse capable of making decisions in relation to both Level 2 and Level 3 patients. The busy, purpose-built 10-bedded unit cares for complex, critically ill patients from a variety of specialities, giving you the fantastic chance to advance your existing clinical skills as well as being an excellent managerial learning opportunity.

We are a friendly, mixed speciality unit caring for both medical and surgical patients, trauma patients, orthopaedic patients, cardiology patients, neuro patients and renal patients. We offer advanced ventilation techniques, advanced cardiac monitoring and support, and renal replacement therapy amongst many other treatments.

You will be an experienced critical care nurse, and be able to demonstrate a high standard of care in a professional and compassionate manner. You must have achieved a specialist course in Critical Care as well as a Mentorship qualification or equivalent. A UK recognised degree in Nursing (or equivalent) is desirable. You should show management and leadership qualities, and have evidence of an interest and involvement in service improvement.

You will work alongside and build relations with our matron, practice development nurse, audit nurse, iMobile team, specialist nurses in organ donation and consultants.

In return for your dedication and hard work, you will have the ability to advance your management and leadership skills. We will aim to offer you a high standard of training both in the clinical area through our practice development team and through our Kings Partners higher education institutions; King’s College, London. King’s College London offers a wide range of modules that can lead to an MSc in Critical Care Nursing.
