Job Description

We are seeking to appoint a talented Scrub Team Leader for our Emergency Theatres, to partner our clinical teams as we continue to shape our services.

The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to join UHSM at a time when Manchester is at the forefront of healthcare redesign, developing a model of care that will help the NHS and other care providers in Greater Manchester provide quality services that are safe, accessible and sustainable for future generations.
In light of these changes we are looking for a dynamic, innovative and highly motivated registered practitioner (Nurse or ODP) with excellent clinical knowledge in the Theatres setting to join our team and take a leading role.

The post is located in the acute block theatres within the theatre directorate. This theatre department runs on a 24 hour basis and covers a range of specialities including Vascular (based in our new Hybrid theatre suite), Orthopaedic, Upper and Lower General Surgery (Elective& Trauma).

The post holder will be expected to manage the dynamic team of staff and working closely with the theatre lead for Anaesthetics and recovery & scrub theatre lead to ensure the best care for our patient during the peri-operative phase of their care. The successful candidate will need to possess a variety of personal attributes in order to lead successfully. These include the ability to communicate effectively, lead change, and have a high level of confidence in their ability to make a success of the role. The ability to multi-task and to remain calm in challenging circumstances is also essential.

There is significant scope in the role for professional development and the opportunity to work on departmental and theatre directorate projects to help improve the care we deliver to our patients and their relatives. Post-holders will also have access to the UHSM Academy and LEAD Training Programme, a unique and innovative concept to develop skillsets, which brings together all of the education and training activities of the University Hospital of South Manchester under one umbrella.
