The Division of medicine is looking for enthusiastic applicants for CT1/2 level posts to work on the medical wards at Northampton General Hospital with options to work within the following specialties; Cardiology, Respiratory, Gastroenterology, Elderly Medicine, Stoke, Diabetes, Haematology/Oncology and Acute Medicine. Currently availability is; Cardiology, Hyperacute and Acute Stroke, Elderly, Acute and Rehabilitation, Neurology and Acute Medical assessment unit rotating to other specialties according to the request of the applicants after 4/6 months.
All specialties have the full range of interventional and diagnostic services including an Interventional Heart Centre, Hyperacute Stroke Unit, Acute Renal unit and autologous stem cell transplantation within the Haematology unit.
The posts are for 4/6 months in each specialty but this could be extended depending on the interest of the applicant. In addition there are options for evening and weekend shifts on the acute assessment units. The acute medical admission pathway has been redesigned with acute physicians and experiences physician’s associates as part of the team.
There is a strong culture of educational support and supervision and a range of patient safety and quality improvement initiatives which successful candidates will be encouraged to participate.
Northampton General Hospital NHS Trust is a large (685 beds) district hospital providing a full range of acute services from a site located close to the centre of the town. The Hospital has an excellent Postgraduate Medical Centre as well as on-site recreational facilities, which include a large sports centre with swimming pool. There is also a children's nursery on site.
Northampton is rapidly growing county town with a population of over 350,000. is has a fascinating blend of rich heritage, distinguished history and all the energy and vigour you would expect of one of the fastest growing modern commercial towns in the United Kingdom.
The town is only an hour away from London, Birmingham, Oxford, Cambridge and Leicester and provides easy access to other parts of the UK through rail links and motorway networks.
