The Role

Theatre Scrub Practitioner

We have vacancies for Registered Theatre Practitioners with proven scrub skills in providing competent assistance to the surgical team to ensure that the highest standard of care and safety. We are looking for staff that want to be part of an already successful high performance team. You will have base skills and the right attitude to deliver high quality, efficient care to our patients. These is a real opportunity for the right candidates to broaden and develop their career, within the supportive environment, whilst making positive contribution to a successful Trust that continuously aspires to deliver the highest standards of care and be an employer of choice.

The operating theatres offer a wide range of general and specialist clinical services and are a base for medical education, training and research. The PAH Theatres represent a dynamic centre on which to build upon clinical experience and professional development.

The Trust is looking for proactive, highly motivated Nurses & Operating Department Practitioners (ODP) for Scrub and Anaesthetic. Any prospective applicant will require good interpersonal skills and the enthusiasm to learn, in order to provide specialised assistance in these clinical specialities.

The candidate should also relish working within a productive multidisciplinary team. The ability to assess, plan and implement care for perioperative patients will need to be demonstrated.

You will be required to work collaboratively to promote the delivery of evidence based patient care. You may be based on one site but there is an expectation for you to be deployed as required. A flexible attitude is required to accommodate the surgical requirements of each department.

What we can offer

Full induction process, structured pay scheme with annual increments, there is an additional living supplement to your basic salary, minimum 27days annual leave plus bank holidays ( pro rata for part time staff ), NHS Pension scheme, flexible, family friendly working pattern, onsite creche facilities, child care vouchers, annual appraisals with career pathways, in-house training courses, discounted hospital restaurant, occupational health services and complimentary health provision. Onsite accommodation subject to availability.

As a Trust we also provide a 5% High Cost Area Supplement (HCAS) added to the basic salary of all Agenda for Change positions. HCAS IS NOT PAYABLE TO VERY SENIOR MANAGER POSTS. There is a minimum and maximum payment of £951 - £1649. If you work part time the supplement will be based on your part time salary. Medical and Dental positions receive an additional Fringe London Weighting (FLW) supplement of £149 added to the basic salary.

All new staff joining Princess Alexandra Hospital will be subject to a probation period of 6 months.
