Tissue Viability Champion Nurses

Job Description

Are you an enthusiastic registered nurse with experience in wound care? Are you a final year nursing student with a passion for tissue viability?
If yes, then we are delighted to advise you of a Recruitment Event on Saturday 5th November 2016 for a new band 5 Tissue Viability champion.

Successful candidates will be recruited to a medical or surgical ward. As part of your band 5 role you will be a link worker to our outstanding tissue viability team who provide expert advice, support and training for staff, patients and carers in relation to tissue viability. Every effort will be made to support you with study time to receive training on pressure ulcer prevention and management, general wound care, surgical wounds and leg ulcers.

You need to be passionate about patient safety and the delivery of exceptional quality care. You will have an interest in tissue viability and a willingness to develop the skills required to become a champion in this field and share those knowledge and skills with your nursing team. A zero tolerance of avoidable pressure ulcers is a key priority.

We offer an exceptional preceptorship package, where our nurses are trusted and supported; recognised, respected and rewarded for delivery of the highest standards of care.
It’s the way nursing should be. A structured induction and training programme ensures that our nurses receive the following:
- Band 5 induction
- Corporate and clinical induction
- Preceptorship and Clinical Skills Programme for Nurses led by PBEs
- The administration of IV drugs
- Tissue Viability Champion training
- Attendance at quarterly tissue viability link worker meetings
- Pressure Area Management training day
- Leg Ulcer Management training
- Time with the Tissue Viability Team
- Post-holders will also have access to the UHSM Academy and LEAD Training Programmes, a unique and innovative concept to develop skillsets, which brings together all of the education and training activities of the University Hospital of South Manchester under one

During our recruitment event, you will be introduced to some of our nursing teams, you will meet our Practice Based Educators who will provide details of the preceptorship programme and you are able to visit your preferred work area. By being interviewed on the day, pre-employment checks can be started immediately, significantly reducing any potential delays
and avoid the need for additional appointments.
