NHS Professionals Trainee Care Support Worker Programme at Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust –

General Acute, Community Care South

Location: Pershore, Worcester, Malvern, Evesham Community Hospital, Waterside, Evesham

Do you have some experience working in a care setting, want to gain more experience and work in an NHS environment but don’t have any previous NHS experience?

NHS Professionals the largest provider of flexible workers to the NHS (over 40,000 workers) are currently working in partnership with Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust, to offer a NHS Professionals Trainee Care Support Worker programme that aims to help ‘open the door’ to you working in the NHS.

Location: Pershore, Worcester, Malvern, Evesham Community Hospital, Waterside, Evesham

The position of the Care Support Worker on the Development Programme is to ensure that in-patient needs are met and work as part of a team in maintaining high standards of care delivery.

We are looking for candidates with a desire to provide compassionate support and care, good communication skills, a flexible approach and enthusiasm to work within a team. Candidates will assist teams to develop and achieve ward and organisational objectives.

To be eligible for this truly exceptional NHS Professionals Trainee Care Support Worker programme, you must wish to pursue a career in the NHS or had at least 3 months experience in the last 2 years in at least one of the following care backgrounds:

  • Acute Hospital

  • Domiciliary Care

  • Nursing Home / complex care at patients home

  • Ambulance Technician

  • Trained and working as a medic in the military or military hospital setting

To undertake this 6 month training programme you will become a NHS Professionals registered Flexible Worker. During the months of the programme you must be able to commit to working at least 30 hours a week on a shift basis (which includes days, nights and weekends).

Upon successful completion of the programme, as an NHS Professional - Flexible worker you will have the added benefit and opportunity to continue to work as a Care Support Worker and undertake flexible shifts that suit your availability at any of the NHS Trusts we support. What’s more, as you have proved your knowledge and skills during the programme, you will automatically be awarded an hourly pay increase to £793 per hour for any Care Support Worker shifts you undertake. All candidates who successfully complete the programme will receive the National Care Certificate.

In exchange for your commitment to the minimum 6 month programme, you can expect to receive:

  • weekly pay;

  • 7 days of free classroom training prior to starting in the role (unpaid) + 5 days specialist training(unpaid);

  • 5 days of supervised placement (paid a minimum wage);

  • Placement on a 6 month shift rota (paid at £779 per hour);

  • paid annual leave;

  • structured, recognised development programme in an NHS setting;

  • access to a wide variety of assignments at any of the NHS Trusts NHS Professionals support, allowing you to continue to undertake assignments and the opportunity of long term assignments – this is post completion and is covered above.
