We are one of the largest specialist mental health and learning disabilities trusts in the country, with an annual income of £320m and a workforce of some 6,700 staff operating from around 160 sites in Durham, Teesside, North Yorkshire and York and Selby. We provide a range inpatient and community services to 2m people living in County Durham, the Tees Valley, Scarborough, Whitby, Ryedale, Harrogate, Hambleton and Richmondshire. Based at Harrogate District Hospital, Cedar Ward is an 18 bedded mixed sex acute inpatient ward providing care to adults who suffer from a variety of mental health conditions. A Vacancy have arisen within the team providing an opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our busy and challenging environment.
The successful candidates will need excellent communication skills and be able to demonstrate an interest in mental health. The role requires the candidates to support the care, assessment, interventions and activities for service users as well as the management of their behaviour. A flexible approach is required as this post involves shifts including night rotation.
The HCA training programme will last 2 years during which time individuals will be expected to achieve Level 2 Literacy and Numeracy, the Diploma in Health & Social Care Level 3 and meet the required competencies of the role.
*Salary during training will be in accordance with Annex U of Agenda for Change:
During 1st year: £13,759 per annum
During 2nd year: £14,741 per annum
Following successful completion of the training programme and the two years’ experience the individual will transfer to Agenda for Change Band 3.
