The Cumberland Infirmary Maxillofacial Department provides a comprehensive service for medical and surgical problems involving the mouth, jaws, face and supporting structures. The department also provides a service for maxillofacial trauma head and neck oncology and its reconstruction, facial deformity, temporomandibular joint surgery, implanatology and dentoalveolar surgery. The department has an active interest in undergraduate and postgraduate education and is involved in clinical research. The successful applicant will be expected to be involved in clinical research.

This post is recognised for training by the Postgraduate Dental Dean.

The Cumberland Infirmary is a District General Hospital located in the city of Carlisle and close to the Lake District National Park. The West Cumberland Hospital is based in the town of Whitehaven which is on the western coast of Cumbria.

As with all North Cumbrian appointments, and in line with the Terms and Conditions of Medical Staff, doctors may be required to work Trust-wide to provide a North Cumbria service.

All applicants must hold valid registration with the GDC. Any applicant who is unable for personal reasons to work full time will be eligible to be considered for this post.

The post will be based at Cumberland Infirmary but the post holder may be required to work at other sites within the Trust.
