Job Description

The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust consists of a 600 bedded large District General Hospital, which provides its services on the Countess of Chester Health Park, and a 64 bedded Intermediate Care Service at Ellesmere Port Hospital.

The Trust provides services in all of the surgical and medical specialties common to a District General Hospital with some specialist services. The Trust serves the whole of the local population currently in excess of 250,000 residents which geographically covers populations in England and North Wales.

The Trust strives to continuously improve and sustain the quality of its services for patients, providing care to more than 445,000 patients per year, with our 4,000 staff working together putting quality and patient safety, at the heart of everything we do. The organisation provides a wide range of services offering health care to the whole spectrum of the population from birth to the end of life. Duration: 7 December 2016 for a period of 8 months initially until 1 August 2017

ST1/ST2 level Trust post within Medicine Specialties. The successful candidate could rotate between Acute Medicine, Care of the Elderly, Gastroenterology or Short Stay Ward depending on service needs.It is anticipated that rotations are for 4 months subject to service needs.

This post will provide excellent experience and training opportunities and would be ideal for someone wishing to gain experience within medical specialties. The post-holder will be allocated a Supervising Consultant/Educational supervisor and be expected to participate in regular teaching that is available in line with their level of experience.

It is desirable that candidates will have previous NHS experience at minimum of F1 level or equivalent. The successful applicant may be required to cross cover within the various medical specialties and within Acute Medicine.

The majority of Trust posts will be expected to participate in one of the general medicine rota`s

The Countess of Chester Hospital is a modern hospital and undergraduates are attached from Manchester and Liverpool Hospitals.Weekly teaching is provided for MRCP and there is an active Postgraduate Education & Training Centre with a well-stocked library on site.
