DEPARTMENT OF TRAUMA & ORTHOPAEDICS/GENERAL SURGERY/UROLOGY
Trust Grade doctors at ST 1-2 level in The Division of Surgery
These are new posts created within the Surgical Division aimed at Doctors who have completed FY1 and FY2 posts and are planning on pursuing a career in a Surgical Speciality.
We have created two 1 year rotations as follows:
Rotation 1 - 6 months Orthopaedics and 6 months General Surgery (and vice versa)
Rotation 2 - 6 months Orthopaedics and 6 months Urology (and vice versa)
These posts are ideally suited to those who need/would like further experience in surgery prior to application into Core Surgical Training.
We have 4 posts as above, working across three sites at Watford General Hospital, Hemel Hempstead General Hospital and St Albans City Hospital to start as soon as possible.
The Watford General Hospital site provides in-patient care for patients who are referred through the Accident and Emergency Department, and some patients from Elective Surgery. The St Albans City Hospital site provides Elective Surgery, and some clinics are run at Hemel Hempstead General Hospital.
You will be allocated to a Consultant and their teams that already include an FY2, ST 1/2, Trust Grade Registrar and a SpR. Your duties will involve in-patient care, on-call, clinic and acute surgery cover at Watford General Hospital, clinic cover at Hemel Hempstead General Hospital, and elective surgery (including outpatient day surgery) at St Albans city hospital.
Watford General Hospital and Hemel Hempstead General Hospital are situated in pleasant parts of Hertfordshire and afford easy access to London (1/2 an hour by train) and to other parts of England via the M1 and M25 Motorways

Your salary will be dependent on relevant NHS experience.
