Trust Grade Doctor in Trauma & Orthopaedics

Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital & Solihull Hospital

£28,357 - £39,693 per annum

An exciting opportunity has become available at the Heart of England Foundation Trust and applications are invited for doctors (FY1/FY2 Equivalent) to support inpatient care at Solihull and Heartlands Hospitals. Our hospital has a good reputation for education and training and these posts provide a wide range of clinical experience and training within the specialty. The post holder will have protected time for Study leave and will also have provision to apply for study leave funding within the Trauma and Orthopaedic directorate. Each trainee will have a dedicated consultant who will act as an educational supervisor.

Your daily activity will involve supporting the team’s management of the trauma or elective inpatients as well as participating in the on call. There is ample opportunity for you to enhance your portfolio and gain the competencies required to progress your career. Whilst these are not training posts, the department is committed to providing a supportive training environment and as such has committed to providing protected time for exposure in theatres and clinics under supervision. You will be encouraged to participate in clinical governance activity and will be supported in this.

These posts form part of an initiative within the department to prioritise the training of our junior orthopaedic surgeons providing a basic orthopaedic program to accelerate them towards higher specialist training. It is open to both local and overseas candidates who wish to either consolidate or further their orthopaedic experience. The rota is compliant with the European Working Time Directive and involves regular weekday sessions with some evening and weekend cover.

These appointments are initially for 12 months and are extendable by mutual agreement.
