Job Description

London North West Healthcare NHS Trust is one of the largest integrated NHS Trusts in the country employing more than 9,000 staff with a budget of more than £670 million a year. Our services include four major acute hospitals including the internationally renowned St Mark's Hospital and community services across Brent, Harrow and Ealing, including Clayponds Rehabilitation Hospital, Meadow House Hospice, Denham Unit and Willesden Centre.

Trust Specialist Registrar in StrokeWe are looking to recruit 10 WTE full time post banded to cover maternity leave.

The appointees will be key in providing clinical care in the HASU and stroke rehabilitation services, supporting the four stroke consultants in giving first class stroke treatment.

Applicants should be competent clinicians and have some experience in general and geriatric medicine. Experience in stroke is desirable but not essential. Training will be provided and appropriate candidates will be encouraged to develop skills relevant to stroke management

The stroke unit provides patients with a 24/7 access to highly specialist dedicated stroke staff, direct admission to HASU beds which ensures that patients are cared for by specialist staff from the minute they arrive. The Unit is well coordinated with multidisciplinary care on newly refurbished wards planned specifically for stroke patients.

There are rehabilitation facilities, such as therapy gyms, kitchens and an assessment bathroom, as well as 7-day TIA clinics.

The stroke unit is staffed by 4 consultant stroke physicians, junior medical staff, stroke-trained nurses, a clinical services manager, a stroke performance coordinator, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and Language therapists, dieticians, clinical psychologists, ward clerks and admin support staff.

There is a 24/7 on-call rota for thrombolysis which is staffed by Trust Specialist Registrars in stroke medicine and stroke nurses with consultant support at home.
