Netcare Healthcare UK Limited (Netcare UK) is a subsidiary of Network Healthcare Holdings Limited (Netcare SA), one of South Africa’s largest integrated healthcare providers.

Netcare UK has been actively engaged in a number of Waiting List Initiatives together with the NHS over the past two years. In January of this year Netcare UK began its most innovative and challenging project of performing over 44 000 cataract operations over the length and breadth of the United Kingdom on behalf of the NHS’s Independent Sector Treatment Centre Programme (IS-TC).

The Netcare/NHS partnership upholds the NHS principle of service delivered free at the point of access and meets the health service’s goal of driving new clinical behaviour. Delivery of the highest possible quality of care while maintaining patient dignity at all times is a fundamental objective of the partnership.

NETCARE UK - INNOVATIVE MOBILE CATARACT TREATMENT SERVICE

In September 2003, Netcare was selected by the UK Department of Health as the preferred bidder for the Ophthalmology Chain project which has now become a reality. Over a five-year period over 44,000 cataract procedures will be performed nationally from mobile units that will be visiting more than 25 locations.
