Surgical Care Practitioner - Required
(Surgical Assistant)

Up to c£40K + Relocation package

Background;
We are pleased to invite candidates to apply for this exciting role working for a prestigious private healthcare company. We have been asked to recruit on behalf of this company for their new start up project in the South West.

Role;
An expert independent practitioner working as a key member of the surgical team.
Under the direction of the consultant surgeons the post holder will carry out operative procedures, whilst assisting with all aspects of pre- operative, intra-operative and post operative care. The post holder is identified as a clinical specialist within the employing authority and will be expected to perform duties with a high degree of clinical skill and knowledge.

Responsibilities;
• Assist in the clinical assessment, examination, of patients for surgery
• Reporting and referring an abnormal findings to the appropriate clinic and act accordingly upon the results.
• Assist in complex surgery minimizing patient risk, improving care quality and maximizing patient satisfaction

Educational requirements;
• Registered Nurse (part 1 of registrar)
• Surgery – New ways of working in Surgery training, surgical care practitioner (SCP) course
• Theatre – Operating Department Practitioner Course (ENB 176)
• Anaesthetics - Anaesthetic Nursing Course (ENB 182)
• Teaching - Assessing/Mentoring course or equivalent (ENB 998)
• Prescribing – Extended and supplementary Nurse Prescribing Course
• Pre-op Assessment – Pre assessment course

Experience requirements;
• Minimum of two years recent experience in a clinical critical care environment as a competent SCP
• Experience in liaising with senior managers/senior clinicians
• Competent in teaching, supervising and assessing learners in a clinical setting


Salary Package;
C£40’000 per annum + Excellent supporting package
Relocation package also available
• Paid annual leave: 27 days holiday plus 8 days public holidays

• Basic 37.5 hour week + opportunities to increase earnings through additional shifts and overtime working
