This area is a dynamic department pushing the frontiers of medicine. We specialise in Trauma & Elective Orthopaedics, Emergencies, colorectal and upper GI Surgery. We also have a state of the art hybrid theatre for the care of vascular patients combined with interventional radiology.
The department provides the hospital with excellent 24/7 cover for elective and emergency patient care. We are an institute that offers all opportunities to develop you in both your career and education. We strive to provide excellent standards of evidence based care.
Candidates will be given the opportunity to rotate through our 3 theatre suites to gain exposure to the wide range of theatre experiences available within our trust if desired. In return we deliver an excellent supernumerary orientation and induction programme for all our new starters, individually tailored to your current level of knowledge and experience.
Post-holders will also have access to the UHSM Academy and LEAD Training Programme, a unique and innovative concept to develop skillsets, which brings together all of the education and training activities of the University Hospital of South Manchester under one umbrella. We have an in-house mentorship programme in place affiliated to a well-known university and CPD courses to aid in your development in your role as a practitioner within the organisation.
Our commitment is further reinforced by our robust Trust Nurse Revalidation Programme – offering an e-portfolio and dedicated individual support for registered nurses.
