You will be working autonomously and as a team player within a clinical structured environment continuing to apply the NMC's code of conduct and the BUPA values of being Accountable, Caring, Authentic, Passionate, Extraordinary, Courageous and Open.

The role

Providing clinical support, guidance and information to customers to empower and enable Bupa members to make the best and most appropriate use of health care services and assist them to obtain treatment.

Coaching Bupa members to become more knowledgeable about their health by using Shared Decision Making and Motivational interviewing techniques in order and make informed health choices.

To act as Clinical support to other non clinical and clinical staff members, and other business areas within Bupa.

To assess and evaluate proposed treatment plans with Consultants, Hospitals and other Healthcare providers on a concurrent basis, to determine appropriateness of care and eligibility according to Bupa policy.

To assess the clinical appropriateness of Bupa members care in line with eligibility of Bupa policy.

Investigate excessive/unusual claiming activity of Bupa members and providers.

To promote cost effective use of health care resources to meet the clinical needs of Bupa members and Bupa business.

Maintain and adhere to clinical Governance procedures.

Specific skills

  • Registered General Nurse, ideally with a background in chronic or complex long term health needs
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of clinical nursing knowledge
  • Ability to handle uncertain situations calmly and professionally
  • Ability to handle customer calls with confidence
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong team player
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to organise your own workload
  • Ability to make decisions based on facts and information available
  • Ability to work well under pressure and on your own initiative
