Our client works across the UK providing essential homecare to patients, working in partnership with not only the NHS but private insurers and pharmaceutical companies to offer this valued support. They are able to support patients with a range of services and therapies from delivery of medication to complex care support and more specialist nursing support. They are able to offer treatment across a range of specialties including home parenteral nutrition, chemotherapy, IV antibiotics, enzyme replacement therapy, rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis.
We are currently looking to recruit experienced Oncology nurses to be field based providing chemotherapy treatment to patients in their homes. This is an exciting opportunity for Oncology nurses to step away from ward based work become more involved in the community.
As a homecare nurse you will be assigned a caseload of patients and you will work to offer treatment across Intravenous Therapies, Oncology, Enzyme Replacement Therapy and Biologics. You will be responsible for planning and delivering appropriate care to your patients at all times, working to ensure close monitoring of patients to avoid/predict deterioration and managing their care appropriately. You will work in partnership with referral centres, hospitals and consultants to ensure that the patient's transition from secondary care to homecare is smooth. You will comply and promote infection control standards and act as an advocate for patients and their families. Part of your day to day will involve ensuring that patient care is documented and all records are updated accurately and in line with NMC and CQC standards.
To be considered for this role you would have at least 2 years experience working in Oncology. Having a Full UK driving licence is vital as your role will involve travelling around to patients homes. You will be required to have a post-registration qualification in administering cytotoxic chemotherapy along with experience in Cannulation and Phlebotomy and Central Access Management. Part of this role involves a strong ability to be highly organised in order to manage your caseload effectively. You will have the ability not only to work independently but as part of a team and be required to have a thorough understanding of the current issues in Oncology and keep up to date with current practices.
