Critical Incident Investigator- Bupa Care Services

Home based - Anywhere in the South of England/the Midlands

Extensive travel-Company Car provided

Permanent, full time

This is an exciting opportunity within Bupa Care Services quality and compliance team to understand significant clinical risks, actions required and share key learnings to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with the regulator. You'll be undertaking investigations at Bupa Care Homes and reviewing regulatory clinical risk, providing expertise and comprehensive reporting to the business and external stakeholders. The overarching purpose of all roles in Bupa is to achieve our strategic vision of being the most admired healthcare company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertaking RCA (root cause analysis) investigations at Bupa Care Homes, from incident Levels 4 and 5 and follow up actions
  • Working within a small team, covering a portfolio of 130 Bupa Care Homes and Richmond Care Villages, which are predominantly based in the south of England
  • Representing Bupa Care Services at corner inquests, safeguarding meetings and other regulatory bodies as required
  • Working closely with HR to share findings of investigations and subsequent actions
  • Producing comprehensive, professional and articulate reports to a high standard that are shared externally with regulators
  • Supporting operational teams to interpret significant clinical risk to inform actions and shared learnings
  • Using the Datex reporting system to write reports and making recommendations of changes required after investigations
  • Supporting Care Home Managers

Skills and experience we're looking for:

  • You will be an RGN, although an active pin isn't necessary
  • Experience of working in a Care Home setting is essential
  • You may be in a quality and compliance role currently or may be looking to make the move to this type of work
  • Comfortable with extensive travel to Bupa Care Homes and attending meetings in Leeds on a regular basis. Overnight stays may sometimes be required
  • Able to produce reports to a high standard that demonstrate comprehensive written and verbal skills
  • Previous experience of representing your organisation at Coroner's inquest, safeguarding would be desirable
  • Tenacious and ability to work autonomously
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Able to build strong working relationships quickly and gain people's trust
