Permanent: Full time or 0.5 FTE

The Hospital Care Coordinator enables Bupa UK Customer to improve member outcomes and experience. The role focusses on ensuring that Bupa inpatients admitted to selected London Hospitals are cared for at the appropriate level of care and for the clinically appropriate length of stay. The Hospital Care Coordinator also supports the hospital with timely, efficient and sustainable discharge of the member.

The role requires utilisation of excellent clinical skills and experience in an acute setting. You will be supported by a clinically based and internationally recognised software package when reviewing Bupa inpatients. . You will make decisions around the clinically appropriate levels of care and length of stay following accurate review of clinical records, consideration of the software outcomeand engagement with the relevant care providers, including Clinicians.


  • Confirming Bupa inpatient admissions and discharges, and prioritising reviews on a daily basis

  • Identifying and seeking relevant clinical information to accurately enter into selected clinical software

  • Liaising with other Bupa teams to ensure best outcomes for the member

  • Maintaining basic reporting tools

  • Identifying where Bupa inpatients level of care, care setting or length of stay does not meet criteria.

  • Analysing the outcomes from the software and determining if further information or action is required

  • Building and maintaining excellent working relationships with Hospital personnel

  • Facilitating an excellent experience for Bupa inpatients

  • Facilitating communication and resolution of issues/ concerns between hospital staff and Bupa customers


  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills is paramount to this role

  • Registered RGN with at least 5 years post qualification experience on a ward and/or within other clinical areas

  • Bed management and discharge planning experience highly desirable

  • Experience with decision making in a clinical setting

  • Strong analytical skills are essential

  • You will have experience across a broad range of clinical specialties

  • Knowledge of the treatment pathways specific to service user requirements

  • Good IT skills; ability to navigate around Microsoft Office, and comfortable working with computers

  • Excellent organisational skills

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with both clinical and non-clinical personnel across all levels of an organization

  • Working knowledge of healthcare system and resources

  • Experience working independently and as a team member
