Prison nursing offers a unique and often fascinating experience of nursing and has the potential to impact on practice and enhance nursing quality. As a first level registered nurse, you will be passionate and committed to delivering high quality healthcare services that can make a difference. You may facilitate nurse led clinics; administer medicines, immunisations and vaccinations, triage and treat minor illness and injuries. You may also provide healthcare emergency response services within the prisons. This is a valuable experience for nurses who wish to add value to their CV while earning extra money. The prison provides a 24-hour health service with an in- patients and out-patients department. We are presently developing our wing based care improving our services in ways that best suit the needs of our patients. This means that some staff groups will increasingly be asked to work a more flexible shift pattern so that we can offer services in the evenings or at weekends.

We are currently recruiting dedicated and motivated individuals with excellent communication skills, sound clinical knowledge and the ability to work independently. You do not need to have had any previous prison experience however we would especially welcome applicants who have a varied nursing experience in a challenging but fulfilling area.

Please note that Home Office vetting is required, and full induction will be offered.
