We have an exciting opportunity for a Specialty doctor in Perinatal Psychiatry (Community-based). This is a part time post, 6 PA’s + inclusion on the middle grade out-of-hours on-call rota pro rata (subject to appropriate qualifications).

The post is based in and covers West Kent, with the main base at Poppy House, Oakapple Lane, Maidstone.

We pride ourselves on our clinically led services and are seeking new talent to join our expanding team of Consultants and Specialty Doctors. This dynamic team has recently been awarded funding to expand MIMHS services throughout Kent and this post has been created to provide additional perinatal psychiatry expertise for the population of women with severe and complex perinatal mental health problems in West Kent.

You will be joining an ambitious mental health trust rated ‘good’ overall by the CQC and ‘outstanding’ for caring in April 2017.

Please note that all applicants should have full registration with the General Medical Council; Section 12 approval or a willingness to work towards this and have completed at least four years full time postgraduate training (or its equivalent gained on a part time or flexible basis); at least two of which will be as a Specialty Trainee in a relevant specialty; or have equivalent experience and competencies.

We are looking for candidates with excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.

Candidates approved under Section 12 of the Mental Health Act 1983 will be expected to participate in a middle grade out-of-hours on-call rota which will attract 2% availability supplement and an additional 1PA. Those working towards this may be asked to participate in other on call arrangements.

The successful applicant will be required to have enhanced clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service.

To deliver an effective service it is essential that you are able to travel between bases in a timely manner.
