Job Description

Are you an experienced Oncology Nurse looking for a new challenge? TTM have an exciting opportunity for a Ward Sister in Central London…. Ward Sister(Nights) Oncology Central London Permanent, FT - 37.5 hrs   Up to £50,000 TTM are currently recruiting some Radiology nurses to work in a very prestigious private hospital in Central London. They have several units spanned across two prestigious areas of London focused on providing world-class treatment to their patients. They have an expansive team of over 300 consultants who are supported by expertly qualified nurses offering care in various specialities including: Diagnostic & Radiology services, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Urology, Cosmetic, Dialysis & Endoscopy. The hospital itself has 250 beds, 12 theatres and endoscopy suite and a large ICU department.     Responsibilities: Reporting into the ward manager you will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of the highest standard of care to patients on the ward. You will encapsulate the ethos of the hospital supporting patients through their journey. Part of your day to day will involve cannulation, phlebotomy, managing peripheral & central IV devices and the delivery of chemotherapy. A vital part of your role will be ensuring you provide clinical leadership to all members of staff on the shift. You will have an extensive knowledge of oncology condition and the ability to recognise emergencies in adequate time. Your role will also require you to provide expert care to patients contacting the out of hours' service and perform triage where necessary. You will also support junior members of staff with triage. Working in oncology does require you to be highly experienced in end of life care and the ability to adequately provide this care to patients when required. Part of your role as a senior member of staff will also be to ensure that documentation is kept up to date and accurate. To be considered for this role you would have:
  • At least 2 years' experience working in oncology at Senior Staff Nurse level
  • Experience in mentoring and coaching
  • Extensive knowledge of oncology conditions, emergencies and end of life care
  • Knowledge of cytotoxic drugs
  • Experience caring for people undergoing radiotherapy
  • Post registration qualification in Oncology
  • Take on new skills quickly, adapt easily to new environments and teams
  • Ability to lead a team and mentor junior members of staff
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Computer literate
